The SMART Center is a mission critical, around-the-clock, Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) used to harness all City of Santa Monica technological sources of intelligence into one center, where it can be analyzed and disseminated into the field to achieve more efficient and effective detection, response, and investigative approaches to modern law enforcement activities.
The response room, surrounded by glazed walls opening onto adjacent offices and a conference room, features a drone command platform and an expansive video wall. Carefully considered interventions – detailed interior glazing, overhead lighting and acoustic panels – create a contrast between the “found space” of raw concrete building frame and the finished working areas. Both work together to create a subtlety lit and quiet environment to allow unimpeded video and audio communications with field units.
